Wigs & headwear
Wigs, day and night coverings, scarves and hats — in a private room, at your pace, with no expectation that you decide anything on the day.
What we do
Most people arrive expecting to choose a wig and find that what they actually want is a mixture of things.
Marzel's fits wigs, coverings for daytime, coverings made for sleeping in, and scarves and hats. Very few people end up with only one of those. A wig for work and a soft cap for the evening is a much more common answer than a single item that has to do everything.
Hair loss during treatment is not a cosmetic inconvenience, and we do not treat it as one. It is often the most visible part of a private situation — the thing that makes strangers ask questions. What you choose to do about that is entirely your business, including choosing to do nothing, and our job is to make the options available to you without an opinion attached.
The appointment
The appointment is in a private room with the door closed, one-to-one. Not a corner of the shop floor, not a curtain, and nobody else waiting to be seen in the same space.
You do not have to try anything on. You can look, ask what things are, feel the difference between fibres, and leave again. That is a normal appointment here, and it is not a wasted one — knowing what exists is most of what a first visit is for.
If you would rather not talk about why you are here, you do not have to. If you would rather talk about it than look at anything, that is fine too. People arrive in very different places and we take the appointment at whatever pace you set.

When to come
It is the question we are asked most, and the honest answer is not a schedule.
Some people come in before treatment begins, wanting the decision made while everything else is still calm. Some come once things have started to change. Some come much later, having managed with hats and decided they would like something else. Some come, look, and do not come back for months.
All of those are ordinary. What happens to your hair, and when, is a question for the clinicians managing your care — they know your situation and we do not, and we will not guess at it for you. What we can tell you is that the door is open at any of those points, and that nothing is lost by coming in early to look.
What to expect
Three steps, and none of them is difficult.
Nothing is required. If you have a photograph of your usual hair, or a wig or covering you already own, bring it — both are useful starting points. If you have neither, that is completely normal.
A private room with a door that closes, and one person with you. You can try things on, or not. Plenty of people spend a first visit only looking and handling, and that is a legitimate way to spend it.
Nothing has to be decided on the day, and coming back is expected rather than tolerated. If you want to think, go and think.
Insurance & documentation
Some plans treat head coverings differently from other items and some do not, and which applies to you depends entirely on your own plan — so we will not tell you the answer before anyone has looked. It is worth raising with us early, because what tends to be asked for is easier to sort out before you have chosen something than after.
Common questions
Yes, and a lot of people do. Coming early means you can look without a deadline, and it means we have already met when you want to come back. There is no wrong time to walk in and ask questions.
No. Looking and handling is a perfectly good first appointment. Nobody will put something on your head that you have not asked for, and you can stop at any point without explaining why.
Yes. A partner, a friend, an adult family member — bring whoever helps. You are equally welcome on your own, and some people much prefer that.
Not to us, and it is the most common starting point there is. Your fitter will explain how things are put on, secured and looked after as you go, at whatever pace suits you.
Yes. It happens in a private room with the door closed, one-to-one with your fitter rather than out on the shop floor.
